Cigar Review: Principle Cigars Bad Principles Tyne

Initial Thoughts:

I haven’t smoked a lot of cigars from Principle Cigars. In fact, I think I’ve only had one from them, and it was a couple of years ago for Christmas, and I didn’t care for it. However, today, with the Principle Cigars Bad Principles Tyne, we’ve got a totally different cigar, a different vitola and blend, and a fair amount of excitement.

Initially, the Principle Cigars Bad Principles looked good. However, upon closer examination, I noticed that the wrapper is lighter following the stems, which could mean this leaf wasn’t aged long enough. There was also an area near the cap that was either flipped up or where the wrapper didn’t overlap. There was also a soft spot behind the label that might indicate that this cigar was under-filled. I hoped that these were minor things and that the cigar would be good.

While torching the foot, the Principle Cigars Bad Principles smelled spicy and leathery. Once lit, the flavors were fairly sour, but there was also some sweetness.

After a few more puffs, the sourness that came off the first puff really messed with what I was able to taste. It was like a sweet-tipped cigar, but instead of sweet, they dipped the tip in something super sour and bitter. Combined with soft and squishy parts behind the label and it’s not looking good for the Principle Cigars Bad Principles Tyne.

Through the middle of the cigar, things didn’t get better for the Principle Cigars Bad Principles Tyne. In addition to the nasty tip, there was a hollow spot (and a big one at that) that was about an inch and a half in length. The burn was also quite uneven, and there was significant canoeing.

Final Thoughts

I couldn’t finish the Principle Cigars Bad Principles Tyne. The flavors were bad, there was a massive hollow spot, and the cap tasted like it was dipped in something sour. The burn was really uneven during the part I did smoke, and there was at least one more hollow spot, which might have been the cause behind the really spongey area behind the label.

I could have gotten a lemon. I’m sure I did. However, both cigars I’ve had from Principle have been cigars I couldn’t finish or recommend, so maybe not.

I would not smoke this cigar again and I’d encourage you to avoid it as well. So, the Principle Cigars Bad Principles Tyne earns a CigarScore 1.
